About me
I am a Bermudian parliamentarian, community leader, and seasoned criminal justice professional with more than 30 years of experience working with at-risk youth and vulnerable populations in Bermuda and Canada.
Public service is ingrained in my DNA. My great grandfather, Robert Crawford O.B.E., served as an MP and was instrumental in many community initiatives focused on equality and justice, with the Robert Crawford School named in his honour. My other grandfather, Dr. Vivian O'Donell King, was Vice President of the Legislative Council for two terms. My father was a Senator and chairman of St. John’s Ambulance, the Herron Trust, and The Royal Gazette, while my mother ran the Sunshine League. My uncle, Dr. James King, was Chairman of the UBP.
Since 2024 I have served in Bermuda’s House of Assembly as the Member of Parliament for Constituency 10, Smith’s North, representing the One Bermuda Alliance (OBA). I am the OBA’s Shadow Minister of National Security, with additional responsibility for the Cabinet Office and Innovation.
My early years took me to the UK, Antigua, and Barbados before settling in Bermuda. I hold a B.A. in Social Sciences (Law & Justice) from Laurentian University in Ontario, Canada. My professional career began in Canada’s correctional and youth care systems, where I worked as a child and youth care worker, group home worker, and correctional officer.
Returning to Bermuda in 1996, I joined the Department of Corrections as a Basic Officer, later becoming a case worker and OSAPP (Offender Substance Abuse Pre-Release Programme) facilitator. From 2001 to 2003, I served as a probation officer with the Department of Court Services, before advancing to Senior Probation Officer, a post I held for over two decades. In this role, I was instrumental in developing Bermuda’s electronic monitoring programme and was recognised for my work in crisis intervention, mediation, and rehabilitation strategies.
My leadership extends beyond my government duties. As Chairperson for the Bermuda Public Services Union, I advocated for fair treatment of civil servants. I am also a certified SCARS trainer, committed to child abuse prevention. I serve as Chairperson of the Committee of 25, a charity supporting children with special medical needs. My professional certifications span crisis negotiation, conflict resolution, abuse prevention, ethics in counseling, and mediation coaching.
In 2024, I entered politics, winning the Smith’s North by-election, and was re-elected to Parliament in the 2025 General Election. In Parliament, I have been a vocal advocate for transparency, crime reduction, and evidence-based strategies to tackle gun violence. I have called for bipartisan collaboration, improved border security, better policing resources, and public accountability for government programmes.
Beyond the House, I am known for grassroots engagement, including my “Lunch & Tea for Seniors” initiative, which fosters dialogue on seniors’ needs and strengthens community networks. Guided by a philosophy of service, integrity, and accountability, I remain dedicated to building safer communities and creating opportunities for those facing adversity.
When not serving my constituents, I enjoy weight training, fishing, and home renovations — pastimes that reflect my commitment to discipline, focus, and building for the future. I have been married to my wife Miriam for 15 years. Miriam started Mediation Services to empower families and assist the Courts in making the best decisions for the benefit of children and parents, and she was Bermuda’s first Court-appointed mediator.
